                                        Consonant Digraphs

When two consonants come together to make one sound they form

a digraph.

ch

chop, chip

sh

ship, shirt

wh

whip, which

th(voiced)

this, then

th (unvoiced)

thimble, thin

When teaching consonant digraphs you can call a group of words with

the same digraph together.

                                    chair, cheese, chop, chip

            1. Have the children say the ch sound repeatedly.

            2. Let the children tell you other words with the sound. List them.

            3. Create worksheets with pictures. Let students color and write the

                words below the picture.
