Subject Verb Agreement
A singular subject takes a singular verb. Singular verbs end with s or es The boy (talk, talks) too much. The subject of the sentence boy is singular, therefore the verb must be singular.
Singular verbs end with s or es. Mother (wash, washes) the clothes The subject of the sentence mother is singular, therefore the verb must be singular. Singular verbs end with s or es.
A Plural subject takes a plural verb. Plural verbs do not have s or es at the end. The boys (sleep, sleeps) in the tent.
The subject of the sentence boys is plural, therefore the verb must be plural. Singular verbs do not end with s or es.
