Possessive Nouns
Possessive nouns show ownership. Singular possessive nouns are shown by adding an ( ’ ) apostrophe and an s.
The dog’s kennel is dirty. Here we are talking about one dog.
Plural possessive nouns are shown by adding an ’ to the noun if the noun ends in s
The lions’ trainer could not be found. Here we are talking about more than one lion.
If the plural possessive noun does not end with an s we add an ’s as we did when dealing with singular possessives.
The women’s bathroom was empty.
