                                       Possessive Nouns

              Possessive nouns show ownership.

Singular possessive nouns are shown by adding

                 an ( ) apostrophe and an s.

                The dog’s kennel is dirty.

Here we are talking about one dog.

Plural possessive nouns are shown by adding an to the noun if the

                noun ends in s

The lions’ trainer could not be found.

Here we are talking about more than one lion.

If the plural possessive noun does not end with an s we

add an ’s as we did when dealing with singular possessives.

                The women’s bathroom was empty.
