Phonological Awareness Sentence & Syllable Segmentation
Sentence Segmentation
During Sentence Segmentation children can read short sentences and put up their fingers to count the words or clap out the number of words in a sentence. The/ boy/ is /tall. This activity helps children to recognize that sentences are made up of words.
Syllable Segmentation Tell children that words have different parts. Let the children clap out the different parts as you call words:
but/ter book/case cup/cake
Start with two syllable words and then go on to three and more syllables.
